Synopsis
Digimon: The Movie (2000) is a feature-length anime from the hit franchise you can watch online on iFILM. It's a Western edit that stitches together three Japanese shorts: the DigiDestined kids and their monster partners from the digital world again stand guard over both realms, ours and the one humming behind the screen.
The main threat is a new Digimon that hatches loose on the internet and devours data so fast that global communication itself could go dark forever. Real missiles fly across the network, some of the kids get snatched, and only a team of children scattered around the world can pull off the rescue. The earliest of the three segments was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, later the mind behind The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Wolf Children, and his chapter still stands out for its clean lines and feeling.
The film leans hard on the series, so newcomers may find a few turns abrupt, while longtime fans get exactly what they came for. A nostalgia trip for anyone who grew up on Digimon in the early 2000s. Stream Digimon: The Movie (2000) online on iFILM.
