Set across the thousand-island world Ursula K. Le Guin invented, the story follows Ged (Shawn Ashmore) as he trains under a wise mage and hunts the shadow he carelessly summoned, while the priestess Tenar (Kristin Kreuk) guards the Tombs of Atuan. Danny Glover and Isabella Rossellini round out the cast. This two-part Sci Fi Channel adaptation takes heavy liberties with the books — Le Guin publicly disowned it — yet still plays as brisk standalone adventure.
