Synopsis
René Clair's It Happened Tomorrow (1944) is a light fantasy comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Young newspaper reporter Larry Stevens keeps wishing he could read tomorrow's paper today — and a mysterious old press-room hand named Pop Benson quietly makes it happen.
The scheme works brilliantly at first: Larry calls the races, breaks stories before they happen, dazzles his editors. Then he opens the next morning's edition and finds his own death notice. His girlfriend Sylvia turns out to be half of a phony clairvoyant stage act — an irony the film savors. Dick Powell plays the runaway momentum of a man who knows too much; Linda Darnell is sharp opposite him.
