Synopsis
The Heavenly Kid (1985) is an American fantasy comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Slick greaser Bobby dies in a drag race, but the gates upstairs stay shut. First he has a debt to settle back on Earth.
To earn his way up, Bobby (Lewis Smith) is sent down as a guardian angel for the clumsiest kid in town — high schooler Lenny, played by Jason Gedrick. The job sounds easy: teach the boy how to be cool, confident and noticed by girls. Trouble is, Bobby is frozen in the styles and swagger of the early 1960s, and it's the middle of the Reagan-era 1980s. The closer the two get, the more it turns out this guardian gig has a twist under the surface.
Directed by Cary Medoway, it's a breezy teen picture from the golden age of American high-school comedies, all jukebox tunes and coming-of-age lessons. The tagline says it best: "Thou shalt be cool!" One for fans of Back to the Future and Teen Wolf. Stream The Heavenly Kid (1985) online on iFILM.
