"City Hunter" (シティーハンター, 1987) is a Japanese anime series you can watch online on iFILM. Ryo Saeba calls himself a sweeper — someone who clears Tokyo's streets of corrupt officials, drug runners, and hired guns. His weapon of choice is a Colt Python; his office is a bulletin board at Shinjuku Station.

Chalk "XYZ" on that board and he takes your case. His partner Kaori Makimura keeps the operation running and carries a ten-kilogram hammer for the moments when Ryo's relentless eye for women derails the job. The action scenes are tight; the comedy between them is broad and unapologetic. That combination — played absolutely straight in both registers — is what kept the show running for four seasons.
