Stakeout

Chris (Richard Dreyfuss) and his partner Bill (Emilio Estevez) trade insults through the long, boring shifts from a house across the street — until Chris breaks the one rule of the job and falls for the woman he's supposed to be watching, a waitress named Maria (Madeleine Stowe). Soon he's lying about who he is, dodging his own partner, and losing track of why they're there at all. Meanwhile the fugitive, Stick (Aidan Quinn), is closing in. Badham keeps the gunfire and the sitcom-grade banter in easy balance, and Dreyfuss and Estevez click like a long-married couple. A breezy pick for a night that wants laughs and a chase.
