Synopsis
Run Silent, Run Deep (1958) is Robert Wise's submarine war film you can watch online on iFILM. Commander Richardson (Clark Gable) lost his boat to a Japanese destroyer in the Pacific and spent a year at a desk before the Navy gave him another command: the USS Nerka.
The crew didn't ask for him. Lt. Bledsoe (Burt Lancaster) had been next in line for the captaincy and doesn't hide his resentment. Richardson drills the men on crash dives, day after day, without explaining why. The men are angry. The destroyer that sank his last boat is still out there. Based on the novel by Commander Edward L. Beach, the script keeps the action mostly below the surface — literally.
Two hard-headed men locked in a steel tube together: that's the best thing the picture has, and it knows it. Gable and Lancaster share almost every scene and neither blinks. Stream Run Silent, Run Deep (1958) online on iFILM.
