Carey Mulligan plays Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein, his wife of nearly thirty years.

Cooper frames the film around the marriage rather than the career. Bernstein was publicly celebrated and privately a man who never resolved the contradictions in his own life; Felicia knew, stayed, and paid a price for it. The film shifts between black-and-white for the early years and colour for the later decades — not as a gimmick but as a tonal change of key. Matt Bomer and Sarah Silverman round out the cast.

Released through Netflix, the film received seven Academy Award nominations. Cooper's central performance — including conducting the London Symphony Orchestra live on camera — is the kind of commitment that makes or breaks a biopic, and here it lands.
