Synopsis
Derry Girls (2018), Season 1 is the Channel 4 tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM — six episodes about a pack of teenagers in 1990s Northern Ireland. There's a bomb on the bridge, but sixteen-year-old Erin has a bigger crisis: her cousin Orla is reading her diary out loud.
What follows is ordinary school chaos against a far-from-ordinary backdrop. The girls scheme to dodge an exam, lose their minds over a trip to Paris, host a visiting "child of Chernobyl" who'd rather be anywhere else, and try to flee town before the Orange parades kick off. Soldiers and checkpoints are just scenery here. What actually matters is boys, the deadpan terror of Sister Michael, and their own ridiculous pride.
