Hap and Leonard (Seasons 1–3)

Hap and Leonard (2016) is a crime drama you can watch online on iFILM, set in the swampy backroads of late-1980s East Texas. Hap Collins did time for refusing to fight in Vietnam; his best friend Leonard Pine went and came back — a gay, black vet with a short fuse and a sharper tongue.

Both men are broke, so when a rumor surfaces about robbery cash sunk in a nearby river, they go after it. What they dredge up drags them into something far uglier than a quick payday. James Purefoy and Michael Kenneth Williams carry the show on the back-and-forth between these two; Christina Hendricks brings the heat as Hap's ex-wife.

Adapted from Joe R. Lansdale's novels, the series runs on what the author calls swamp noir — heat, casual violence and pitch-black comedy in one pot. Three short seasons, each built from a single book, so it's an easy one to start. It's for viewers who care more about an odd-couple friendship than the body count.
