Synopsis
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, Season 1 (2018) is the isekai fantasy comedy to watch online on iFILM — twelve episodes in which a shut-in gamer wakes up inside his own MMORPG, wearing the body of his unbeatable avatar.
Back in Cross Reverie, players called Takuma the demon lord for his maxed gear and cold play. Now he's Diablo, and two girls — the pantherian Rem and the elf Shera — each swear they summoned him. Their enslavement spell ricochets off his Magic Reflect, and the summoners end up collared instead. From there the season ratchets up from bedroom-farce gags to real stakes: the Adventurer's Guild, Fallen assaults, and above all Greenwood's demand that Faltra hand over Princess Shera or face war. Diablo, who can only deal with people by playing his fearsome overlord role, keeps getting pulled into their troubles. The back half unseals the soul of the ancient demon lord Krebskulm hidden inside Rem — and a betrayal that wrecks the fragile peace.
Animated by Ajia-do from Yukiya Murasaki's light novels, the show is unashamed about fanservice yet keeps its pace and its fights. It lands for fans of overpowered-hero isekai with a self-mocking streak. Stream Season 1 online on iFILM.
