About

Synopsis

Baby Boom (1987) is an American romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Charles Shyer and led by Diane Keaton as J.C. Wiatt — a Manhattan power broker who has structured her entire life to exclude anything that can't be scheduled.

Then a distant relative dies and names her guardian of a toddler. Her partner leaves. Her boss (Harold Ramis) starts pulling her off the fast track, and a slick colleague played by a young James Spader circles the vacancy. J.C. eventually retreats from the city to rural Vermont, where a farmhouse, a failing homemade applesauce operation, and a local vet (Sam Shepard) all figure into whatever comes next.

What the film understood — that the corporate world was rigged against women with children, and that "having it all" carried a real cost — still reads clearly. Keaton doesn't play the material soft, which is what keeps it from aging badly. Stream Baby Boom (1987) online on iFILM.
