Synopsis
"Flowers in the Attic" (1987) is a gothic horror-drama you can watch online on iFILM, adapted from Virginia C. Andrews' controversial bestseller by director Jeffrey Bloom. Louise Fletcher and Victoria Tennant lead the cast in this story of a family whose love curdles into something far darker.
After her husband dies suddenly, Corrine is left penniless and turns to her wealthy but cold parents for help. To reclaim her inheritance, she hides her four children in a room just below the attic of the vast family estate — and tells them to wait quietly. The wait stretches from days into months. Their mother visits less and less. Their grandmother, played with icy menace by Fletcher, makes the confinement feel like a sentence.
What makes the film linger is not the Gothic trappings but the slow erosion of trust in the one person the children have no choice but to believe in. It works best as a portrait of how greed poisons ordinary families from the inside. Stream "Flowers in the Attic" (1987) on iFILM.
