Synopsis
Adult World (2014) is an American comedy directed by Scott Coffey — watch it online on iFILM. Emma Roberts plays Amy, a fresh college graduate who is absolutely certain the world owes her a literary career.
It doesn't. Bills pile up, every journal says no, and the only job she lands is behind the counter of a sex shop. Her plan: talk her way into an apprenticeship with reclusive writer Rat Billings, played by John Cusack, who agrees to mentor her mostly out of exasperation. Evan Peters co-stars as a coworker entirely unbothered by the nature of the job.
What makes the film stick is how unsentimental it is — Amy is irritating, self-absorbed, and the movie never rescues her from that. Scott Coffey treats the coming-of-age arc without softening its edges. Stream Adult World (2014) online on iFILM.
