Pilgrimage

Pilgrimage (2017) is a grim medieval action drama directed by Brendan Muldowney — watch it online on iFILM. Set in early 13th-century Ireland, the film follows a small band of monks ordered to carry a sacred relic — the stone used to martyr the apostle Matthias — across a land torn apart by tribal warfare and Norman conquest.

Tom Holland plays the wide-eyed young novice thrust into the mission, while John Bernthal is the silent lay brother whose violent past the monks can only guess at. Richard Armitage rounds out the group as a Norman knight whose motives shift with every mile. The further east they travel, the clearer it becomes: the relic is wanted by every power in the land, and none of them intend to negotiate.
