Synopsis
Beatriz at Dinner (2017) — watch online on iFILM: a sharp, intimate drama directed by Miguel Arteta, written by Mike White, and anchored by Salma Hayek. Beatriz is a Mexican immigrant working as a holistic therapist and massage practitioner in a wealthy Los Angeles suburb. When her car breaks down after a client session, her patient's family offers her a place at the table for a celebratory dinner party.
The other guest of honour is Doug Strutt (John Lithgow) — a billionaire developer who has bulldozed his way through every obstacle life has offered. Beatriz knows exactly who he is. What unfolds is a polite war of worldviews, conducted over canapés and clenched smiles, until the politeness runs out. Connie Britton, Chloë Sevigny and Jay Duplass round out the ensemble. Quiet in tone, genuinely uncomfortable in the best way — this one lingers. Stream Beatriz at Dinner (2017) on iFILM.
