Synopsis

The Hot Zone (2019), Season 1 — a six-episode miniseries you can watch online on iFILM. Real events: 1989, a primate research facility outside Washington, a virus with no cure and no containment protocol on the books.

Army veterinarian Dr. Nancy Jaax recognizes the threat before anyone in authority will admit it exists. Across all six episodes she drives a secret military team forward while agencies argue jurisdiction, her superiors stall, and an exposed lab worker threatens to turn a local problem into a national one. Based on Richard Preston's account of the actual Reston outbreak, the show earns its dread by showing exactly how little any institution had prepared.
