Synopsis
The Comey Rule (2020) is a two-part Showtime political drama you can watch online on iFILM — based on James Comey's memoir A Higher Loyalty. Jeff Daniels plays FBI Director Comey; Brendan Gleeson plays Donald Trump.
Comey is running parallel investigations through the 2016 presidential race: the Clinton email server and possible ties between Trump's campaign and Russia. Both become political grenades. Gleeson doesn't go for impersonation — he plays Trump as a man whose demand for personal loyalty collides catastrophically with institutional norms. The scene where Trump fires Comey plays out like a mob conversation conducted inside a government building.
