SAS Rogue Heroes (Seasons 1–2)
Who dares wins.
Synopsis
SAS Rogue Heroes (2022) is a BBC miniseries you can watch online on iFILM, adapted from journalist Ben Macintyre's book about how the world's most famous special forces unit was born from a half-mad idea in the North African desert. Tagline: "Who dares wins" — and the show means it literally.
Jack O'Connell plays David Stirling, a young officer convinced that conventional warfare is losing the war. He recruits his first men from disciplinary sheets and mental health reports — Alfie Allen and Connor Swindles among them — and talks Cairo command into letting a handful of misfits raid Rommel's airfields on foot. Dominic West plays the kind of senior officer who thinks this will end badly, and for a while he's not entirely wrong. Sofia Boutella completes the ensemble as a figure connecting the unit to the local world they're operating inside.
Director Tom Shankland, who later handled Wednesday, keeps the action scrappy and un-ceremonial. There are no rousing speeches before the raids — just improvisation, bad luck, and the occasional moment of shocking effectiveness. That unglamorous texture is what makes it land.
