Synopsis
The Wrong Guy (1997) is a Canadian comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Dave Foley plays Nelson Hibbert, a mid-level executive who was absolutely certain he'd be named company president. He wasn't. He said some regrettable things. Then he walked into his boss's office and found the man dead.
The logical conclusion: run. What Nelson doesn't know is that the police had the real killer identified before he'd even reached the elevator — nobody is looking for him. Director David Steinberg, working from a script Foley co-wrote, keeps the central gag intact for 92 minutes without stretching it thin. Jennifer Tilly shows up as a witness on the run for entirely different reasons, Colm Feore plays the actual murderer with perfect deadpan, and Enrico Colantoni rounds out the cast.
