Synopsis
The Mess You Leave Behind (El desorden que dejas, 2020) is a Spanish Netflix mystery drama you can watch online on iFILM. Raquel, a literature teacher played by Inma Cuesta, moves with her husband to a small Galician town to try to save their marriage. The teaching post opened up because the previous teacher, Elvira, died weeks earlier — ruled a suicide by everyone in town.
The series cuts between two timelines: Raquel uncovering what happened, and Elvira herself during her final weeks. Bárbara Lennie plays Elvira, and the tension comes not from not knowing the ending but from watching the pieces lock into place. Arón Piper appears as a student whose role grows more complicated as both storylines progress.
