Synopsis

Gunsmoke (1955), Season 12 — watch online on iFILM: 29 episodes from 1966, still set in and around Dodge City, Kansas.

The year opens hard. Forced to gun down a prisoner who was trying to save him, Marshal Matt Dillon hangs up his badge before the season even finds its feet. From there it's the usual frontier mosaic, each hour mostly its own tale — thieves splitting a gold bar in the blacksmith's shop, a widow scheming revenge for her hanged husband, Doc Adams picking up a rifle to guard a gold shipment. The run closes on the two-part "Nitro!", a luckless drifter mixing explosives for bank robbers.

Twelve seasons deep, the show leans on its people — Kitty, Doc, Festus — far more than on any single plotline. Good for fans who take their Westerns one self-contained episode at a time. Stream Gunsmoke Season 12 online on iFILM.
