Synopsis
The Sympathizer (2024), Season 1 — watch all seven episodes online on iFILM. The series opens in the final hours before the fall of Saigon: the Captain is a Communist sleeper embedded so deep in the South Vietnamese military that his closest friends have no idea.
He arrives in Los Angeles with a wave of refugees, files reports back to his Viet Cong handler, and keeps the CIA satisfied at the same time. When the General leading the exile community starts hunting for a mole, the Captain has to destroy an innocent man to protect himself. A Hollywood detour — consulting on a war film for a self-important Auteur — sharpens the show's satirical edge: what happens when the victors pay a Vietnamese man to make their version of the war feel real. By the final episodes the Captain is back in Vietnam, answering for everything the audience has watched him do.
