Synopsis
Summer Things (Embrassez qui vous voudrez, 2002) is a French ensemble comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Set over one chaotic summer at the seaside resort of Le Touquet, it tangles a dozen characters into a knot of affairs, jealousy and bad timing. Michel Blanc directs.
A wealthy couple invites their broke friends along for a holiday, single mother Julie tags into the group, and from there everything tilts off balance. A bored, elegant housewife aches for a little passion, an overprotective brother shadows his sister, a Latin lover works the beach, and somewhere a baby keeps screaming while two more scandals brew. Everyone is hiding something, and by the end they all crash into the same party.
The cast is a who's who of French cinema: Charlotte Rampling, Carole Bouquet, Karin Viard, Jacques Dutronc, plus a very young Gaspard Ulliel and Mélanie Laurent. Blanc keeps one foot in farce and the other in a wry drama about grown-ups losing track of what they actually want. Light, but never dumb. Stream Summer Things (2002) online on iFILM.
