Synopsis
Tiger King (2020), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM. Netflix's true-crime documentary runs eight episodes around a gun-toting Oklahoma zoo operator, Joe Exotic, who breeds big cats and has spent years at war with animal activist Carole Baskin.
The season unspools like a tangled knot. At first Joe is just an eccentric showman with a mullet and a private menagerie. Then come the unpaid workers, the cult-like loyalty around eccentric bosses, a suspicious fire on the property, and a lawsuit that nearly sinks the whole park. Baskin isn't simple either: an old incident from her past resurfaces, and Joe is happy to keep pointing. By the midpoint the FBI is circling, a new partner muscles in on the zoo, and Exotic lands in a courtroom still insisting the story isn't over.
Directors Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin keep the focus on the people, not the cats — everyone here is certain they're the one in the right. The final episode plays as an aftershow, with host Joel McHale asking the cast how sudden fame has treated them. Stream Tiger King Season 1 online on iFILM.
