Synopsis
Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes (2022), Season 1 — a three-part true-crime documentary you can watch online on iFILM, built around audio recordings in which Dahmer himself describes what he did.
The structure is plain, which makes it harder to sit through. Episode one returns to the 1991 arrest and how police finally caught up with him. The second lays out his method: the late eighties, Milwaukee's gay bars, the men he hunted while everyone around him suspected nothing. The third leaves the timeline behind for a question the case never settled — evil or insane — and the failures of the system that let him keep going.
Director Joe Berlinger stages nothing and amplifies nothing. The voices belong to attorneys, experts, journalists, and the tape itself. All seventeen victims stay at the center rather than the margins. This season is for viewers who want to understand the mechanics of the case more than they want a scare.
