Synopsis
Our Love Has Always Been 10 Centimeters Apart (2017), Season 1 is a Japanese romance drama you can watch online on iFILM — six episodes about two classmates who never quite close the gap between them.
Miou Aida hides inside the art club, quiet and careful. Haruki Serizawa runs the film club, loud and already winning prizes for his directing. They meet under the cherry blossoms and start walking home together, day after day, and somehow that's where it stops. Across one school year the season pushes them: the film club needs a painting that captures "the color of love," Miou wrestles with guilt she can't explain, and Haruki suddenly stops showing up to class. First snow, an unfinished canvas, a conversation both of them keep avoiding.
Adapted from a set of illustrated song singles, the show works in small gestures rather than big declarations. Those ten centimeters stand in for the fear of taking one step, and the season is honest about how hard that step is. Best for viewers who like gentle high-school melodrama without the noise. Miou shuts herself off from Haruki and her friends, due to the guilt she is feeling. It’s up to Natsuki and Akari to find out why their friend is so sad. Some memories from the past start to resurface for Haruki and causes him to question his dream of becoming a film director.

Haruki has not come to school for a few days and everyone is starting to get worried. Miou is determined to finish her “painting of love” and talk to Haruki about an unfortunate event that happened in the past. “I’ll wait as long as it takes” she says, as the first snow of the season begins to fall.

Graduation is finally here, and everyone is ready to move on as Miou decides her future career, and Haruki is ready to embark on a new adventure. But before that, will Haruki and Miou’s ten centimeter gap finally close?
