Speed Racer (マッハGoGoGo, 1967) is the classic Tatsunoko anime you can watch online on iFILM. Teenage driver Go Mifune, better known as Speed, climbs behind the wheel of the Mach 5 — a race car built by his father, a former champion. The machine hides a few tricks: buzz saws to cut through obstacles, jump jacks, even an underwater mode.

Race after race, Speed tears across tracks around the world, outrunning honest rivals and exposing crooks who rig engines and stage crashes. He's never alone. Girlfriend Trixie circles overhead in her helicopter, restless little brother Spridle and the monkey Chim-Chim keep stowing away in the trunk, and a masked driver called Racer X drifts through the series guarding a secret of his own.

This was one of the first anime to cross over to Western audiences, and it set the template for speed lines, frantic chase cutting and wide-eyed heroes.
