Arnold (Season 1)

Arnold (2023) is a Netflix docuseries you can watch online on iFILM — three episodes directed by Lesley Chilcott, each built around one chapter of a life that doesn't fit in a single genre. The tagline is "One man. Three lifetimes." Schwarzenegger narrates his own story: a kid from a small Austrian town who decided he would become the best bodybuilder on the planet, then the biggest action star in Hollywood, then Governor of California.

Each episode takes one phase. The bodybuilding years trace the obsessive discipline behind five Mr. Universe and seven Mr. Olympia titles. The Hollywood section brings in Sylvester Stallone, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis and Linda Hamilton, plus director Ivan Reitman on Twins and Kindergarten Cop. The political chapter doesn't skip the hard parts — his son Joseph Baena appears on camera alongside Arnold, and the affair that produced him is discussed directly.

Chilcott doesn't let the subject control the frame. The film keeps placing the charm next to the calculation, the genuine ambitions next to the political stumbles, the public icon next to the more complicated private person.
