Spartan

Spartan (2004) is a taut crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by David Mamet and starring Val Kilmer as government operative Scott. He trains recruits to shoot first and think later — and lives by the same code himself.

What looks like a straightforward missing-persons case turns into something far messier. The girl is the daughter of a senior official, and by the time Scott closes in, the news is already reporting a body pulled from the ocean. The real target, it turns out, isn't the kidnappers. Mamet builds the film as a moral maze: every new door opens onto someone with more power and fewer scruples. Kilmer plays it almost affectless, which is exactly right.
