Synopsis
Phil Spector (2013) is an HBO drama you can watch online on iFILM. Written and directed by David Mamet, it puts Al Pacino as the legendary record producer opposite Helen Mirren.
Most of the film unfolds behind closed doors. The man who built the "Wall of Sound" stands accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson, found dead inside his mansion. Battling the flu, defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden — Mirren — takes the case and runs into a client who is brilliant, paranoid and impossible. Their sparring is the whole engine: she tries to assemble a defense, he refuses to hand her a single clean answer. Mamet stays pointedly neutral, opening with a card that this is a work of fiction, not a record of what happened.
