Synopsis
Homicide (1991) is a David Mamet crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Detective Bobby Gold thinks of himself as a cop and a negotiator first, Jewish a distant second. Then he's pulled off a high-profile manhunt and stuck with a case he didn't want: the killing of an elderly woman who ran a candy store in a rough neighborhood.
What looks like a routine investigation drags Gold somewhere he never planned to go. There's a weapons cache in the victim's basement, old scores buried in her past, and a thickening haze that might be conspiracy or might be paranoia. The deeper he digs, the harder his own sense of self starts to crack. Joe Mantegna plays a man losing his footing, with William H. Macy and Ving Rhames beside him.
Mamet, a master of clipped, jagged dialogue, bends the police procedural into a tense study of belonging and betrayal. No gloss, no comfort, a bleak ending that refuses to let you off the hook. It's for anyone who prizes smart nineties thrillers. Stream Homicide (1991) online on iFILM.
