Flipper

Then Sandy pulls an injured dolphin from the water and nurses it back to health. Elijah Wood brings the right amount of awkward teenage energy to Sandy, while Paul Hogan plays Uncle Porter with an easy, unhurried warmth that keeps the film from tipping into schmaltz.

The movie revives the beloved 1960s TV series for a new generation, shot on actual Florida locations with real dolphins. The bond between boy and animal is the whole point, and it lands cleanly — no tricks, no sentiment overdose.
