Synopsis
Carla's Song (1996) is a Ken Loach drama you can watch online on iFILM. In late-1980s Glasgow, bus driver George falls for Carla, a young Nicaraguan refugee carrying wounds he can barely begin to read.
Her memories of the war back home never let her settle. So George does something reckless: he abandons his ordinary Scottish life and flies with her to Nicaragua, straight into the 1987 conflict between the Sandinista government and the US-backed Contras. What started as a love story turns into a hard education, as a man who knew war only from the news suddenly stands inside it. Robert Carlyle and Oyanka Cabezas lead, with Scott Glenn alongside them.
Loach welds romance to blunt political reporting — ordinary people crushed under the wheel of history was always his subject. This one is for viewers who want social cinema without gloss and can sit with someone else's pain honestly. Stream Carla's Song (1996) online on iFILM.
