Synopsis
The Hangman (2024) is an American backwoods horror from Bruce Wemple that you can watch online on iFILM. Leon, a father weighed down by his own failings, takes his son camping deep in the Appalachians, hoping the trip might patch up the distance between them.
In the trees they stumble on an isolated settlement. The locals whisper a warning: the Hangman has woken nearby, a demon called up by a cult that hides out here. When Leon's boy disappears, the father has to move against both the cult and the creature, while the bodies pile up faster than he can grasp what he's walked into. LeJon Woods plays a man whose search for his child becomes a descent into his own private hell.
This one's made on a shoestring, leaning on forest claustrophobia and folk dread instead of pricey effects. The plot has nothing to do with the slasher franchise its retitling suggests — it's a standalone story about a cult and a backcountry demon.
