Synopsis
The Caveman's Valentine (2001) is Kasi Lemmons' detective drama, and you can watch online on iFILM. Romulus Ledbetter was once a brilliant Juilliard pianist. Now he is a homeless man living with schizophrenia in a cave at the edge of New York's Central Park, fending off the imaginary "seraphs" that swarm his mind.
One winter morning he finds the frozen body of a young drifter near his shelter. The police — including his own daughter, a cop — write it off as an accident. Romulus is certain it was murder, and that the trail leads to a celebrated art photographer. The catch is brutal: who believes a witness the whole city already thinks is insane? Samuel L. Jackson plays a man teetering between piercing insight and total collapse, and that instability is what powers the film.
Lemmons, who made Eve's Bayou, turns the whodunit into a trip through a fractured mind where hallucinations and hard evidence keep blurring together. It rewards anyone hunting for an unconventional, unreliable investigator rather than an action plot. Stream The Caveman's Valentine (2001) online on iFILM.
