Synopsis
Rock'n Roll (2017) is a French comedy you can watch online on iFILM — written, directed by, and starring Guillaume Canet as a version of himself: the actor who once collected César Awards and now gets recognised in supermarkets as "Mr Cotillard's boyfriend." His real-life partner Marion Cotillard plays herself too, effortlessly in demand while he quietly unravels.
A young co-star delivers the verdict: he's lost the spark, he won't sell a single seat, he ranks dead last on any wish list. So Guillaume reinvents himself from scratch — crash diets, tattoos, ridiculous haircuts, a whole new persona. Each attempt lands somewhere between pathetic and genuinely funny, and Canet keeps the camera on both.
The real trick here is the nerve it takes to lampoon your own career alongside your actual partner, with Johnny Hallyday and Ben Foster turning up as themselves to add to the absurdity. It's less about celebrity than about the panic men feel when they sense the spotlight shifting. Stream Rock'n Roll (2017) in full online on iFILM.
