Synopsis
14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible (2021) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Torquil Jones and following Nepalese climber Nirmal "Nims" Purja as he attempts to summit all fourteen of the world's eight-thousanders within seven months. The standing record at the time was eight years.
Purja is a former British Special Boat Service operator, and his blueprint for "Project Possible 14/7" reflects that background: logistics-heavy, team-driven, and built on the conviction that limits are mostly administrative. The film covers the full arc from planning to summit — the supply chain decisions at altitude, the days when weather and injury rewrite the schedule, and the moments when the team keeps moving anyway. Reinhold Messner, the first person to climb all fourteen, appears to offer perspective on what Purja is attempting.
Jones keeps the camera close rather than scenic: the film earns its emotion through faces and exhausted conversations at camp rather than sweeping aerial footage. What makes it stick is that Purja's drive reads as genuine rather than performative — the question he keeps returning to is not "can I do this" but "why has anyone decided it can't be done."
