Synopsis
Somos. (2021) is a Mexican Netflix drama you can watch online on iFILM. For a while, the border town of Allende runs on small routines — market stalls, school runs, Sunday meals. Then a cartel moves in.
The series stays with ordinary residents — a shopkeeper, a mother, a teenager, an old man — rather than the cops or kingpins. Each holds a small place in the community, and each is pulled into the violence a different way. Directors Álvaro Curiel and Mariana Chenillo keep the camera on the people usually reduced to a number in a news report.
Inspired by what happened in Allende in March 2011, when dozens of locals vanished within days, the show plays it quiet — no shootouts staged for thrills, which is exactly why it lands so hard.
