Frank Herbert's Dune (Season 1)
One man. One planet. One destiny.
Synopsis
Frank Herbert's Dune (2000) is a sci-fi miniseries you can watch online on iFILM. The Sci-Fi Channel's three-part adaptation of Herbert's novel picked up three Emmy Awards and remains one of the most faithful tellings of the source material on screen. Director John Harrison had the runtime to breathe — roughly five hours across the three episodes — and used it to dig into the novel's political machinery.
The story runs on a single resource: the spice Melange, which only grows beneath the sands of Arrakis. When House Atreides is handed control of the planet, Duke Leto (William Hurt) recognises it as a trap set by the Emperor and the brutal Harkonnens. His son Paul (Alec Newman) survives the betrayal and ends up among the Fremen, the desert people who have lived under two suns long enough to build a prophecy around exactly his kind of arrival. Giancarlo Giannini and Saskia Reeves round out a strong international cast.
This version rewards viewers who want the intrigue and philosophy of Herbert's world, not just the spectacle. Stream Frank Herbert's Dune (2000) online on iFILM.
