Synopsis
Flesh and Bone (1993) is a slow-burn neo-noir thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Thirty years ago a boy watched his father murder an entire family, leaving only a baby alive in her crib.
Now Arlis Sweeney drives the back roads of Texas alone, stocking vending machines and keeping everyone at arm's length. Meeting Kay Davies pulls him toward someone for the first time in years — until his past walks back in as his father Roy, a patient and ice-cold predator. Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid play a couple shadowed by an old secret, while James Caan makes Roy terrifying with barely a raised voice. A young Gwyneth Paltrow turns up in an early role.
It's the only film directed by Steve Kloves, who would go on to write every Harry Potter screenplay. Dusty, deliberate and Southern-gothic mean — its tagline warns that "evil is patient" — this one is for fans of character-driven noir rather than action. Stream Flesh and Bone (1993) online on iFILM.
