Money for Nothing

"Money for Nothing" (1993) — watch online on iFILM this crime comedy based on a true story. In South Philadelphia, an unemployed dockworker named Joey Coyle spots $1.2 million that rolled off an armored car and landed on the street. He picks it up and walks away.

Things do not stay simple. Joey (John Cusack) has no idea how to clean that kind of cash. He calls his ex-girlfriend Monica, who works at an investment firm. Then he calls the mob. A detective (Michael Madsen) is already working backward from the armored car's route. The supporting cast — Benicio del Toro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, James Gandolfini, Michael Rapaport — reads, in retrospect, like an extraordinary accident of early-nineties casting.
