Synopsis
Night Guards (2016) is a Russian fantasy action film you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Emilis Vėlyvis, it rests on a deadpan premise: werewolves, vampires, and witches have quietly settled into Moscow, and a small, officially nonexistent government unit — Division N — keeps them in line.
Eighteen-year-old courier Pasha (Ivan Yankovsky) witnesses a Division N clean-up at a downtown hotel and, instead of a cover story, gets handed a job application. The team around him includes a weathered veteran played by Leonid Yarmolnik and a skilled field operative (Lyubov Aksenova). They are not immortal. They have just survived long enough to be good at this. That gap between "invincible" and "hard to kill" is where the film lives.
Intended as the first of a trilogy. Less slick than most Russian fantasy productions of the period, which works in its favour — Division N feels like a real department, not a movie department. Watch Night Guards (2016) online on iFILM.
