Synopsis
Kim's Convenience (2016) is a Canadian sitcom you can watch online on iFILM. It follows the Kims, a Korean-Canadian family running a small corner store in downtown Toronto. The show grew out of Ins Choi's stage play, and that warm, lived-in feel carries straight over.
Appa and Umma immigrated in the '80s and set up shop near Regent Park. Their kids are grown now: daughter Janet is studying photography and butting heads with her dad over her future, while son Jung walked out years ago after a bad fight with Appa and now works at a car rental lot. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee anchors it all as the stubborn, big-hearted father — half the laughs ride on him. Jean Yoon, Andrea Bang, Andrew Phung and Simu Liu fill out the cast, with Jung's role launching Liu toward Hollywood.
This isn't a show about big drama. It runs on small family scrapes, awkward money-and-love talks, and two generations trying to read each other across a shop counter. Good company if you like gentle sitcoms with no mean streak. Stream Kim's Convenience (2016) online on iFILM.
