Synopsis
Flowers (2016) is a British dark comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Maurice Flowers writes grim children's books and is quietly falling apart under a heavy depression, while his wife Deborah — played by Olivia Colman — keeps insisting everything at home is fine. They never divorced; they just orbit each other like strangers sharing an address.
The house is crowded with damage. A doddering grandmother lurks upstairs, and the grown-up twins are stuck in arrested development: one composes music and pines for the girl next door, the other builds unsettling contraptions and can't stand her brother. A Japanese illustrator named Shun drifts through it all. The laughs land bruise-deep, and underneath every absurd scene sits an honest conversation about mental illness that most shows won't touch.
Writer-director Will Sharpe made two short, tender, painful seasons for Channel 4. It's for viewers who like their comedy sitting right next to despair. Stream Flowers (2016) online on iFILM.
