Synopsis
Valley Girl (2020) is a jukebox romance you can watch online on iFILM. It is summer in 1980s Los Angeles. Julie, a girl from comfortable San Fernando Valley, crosses paths with Randy, a city punk with no money and no plan but plenty of guitar and attitude.
They come from opposite worlds, and that drives everyone around them up the wall. Julie's friends turn up their noses, her parents push back, her ex simmers. The two fall for each other anyway, all of it set to neon, cassette decks and new-wave hits the cast sings straight to camera. Jessica Rothe and Josh Whitehouse keep the pair light on their feet, with Chloe Bennet, Mae Whitman and Judy Greer filling out the crowd.
This is a bright remake of the cult 1983 film, rebuilt as a full-blown musical by director Rachel Lee Goldenberg. Pastel outfits, dance floors, tracks from Modern English and The Go-Go's. Easy retro fun for a good mood and a hit of '80s nostalgia. Stream Valley Girl (2020) online on iFILM.
