Synopsis
Adult Material (2020) is a Channel 4 drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Jolene Dollar has a mortgage, three children, school runs and the kind of domestic chaos that looks familiar from any angle. She also happens to be one of Britain's best-known adult film performers — and for her, at least for now, that is just a job.
The four-episode series shifts when a nineteen-year-old named Amy arrives on set and latches onto Jolene as a guide. Written by Lucy Kirkwood, the show refuses to turn Jolene into either a victim or a symbol. Hayley Squires plays her as someone making calculated decisions in a world that was never designed with her interests in mind, and the performance holds that tension without collapsing it. Director Dawn Shadforth keeps the camera at ground level throughout. Rupert Everett and Joseph Dempsey round out the cast.
