Synopsis
Youth of May (2021) is a Korean romance set against a real historical tragedy, and you can watch online on iFILM. The place is Gwangju, the spring of 1980. As tension thickens in the streets and soldiers move into the city, a medical student and a young nurse fall, unexpectedly, in love.
Their romance blooms at the worst possible moment. Hwang Hee-tae is a gifted young man his family is steering toward a profitable marriage and a quiet career. Kim Myung-hee dreams of studying abroad and living life on her own terms. What sparks between them is the kind of first love worth defying everyone for. But the city where they meet is only days away from being swallowed by violence, and their feelings end up caught between other people's choices and a history no one asked to live through.
Lee Do-hyun and Go Min-si lead, and their chemistry is the reason the series struck such a nerve, under director Song Min-yeop. Across twelve episodes it opens like a tender summer story and slowly turns into a quiet heartbreak. If Korean dramas where the personal collides with the historical are your thing, this one lingers.
