Synopsis
Silk Road (2021) is an American crime thriller directed by Tiller Russell — watch it online on iFILM. Nick Robinson plays Ross Ulbricht, a twenty-something libertarian philosophy graduate who built a functioning anonymous marketplace on the dark web in the early 2010s: drugs, forged documents, anything — all paid in Bitcoin, all untraceable. Hundreds of millions in transactions before anyone in law enforcement even had a name to chase.
Jason Clarke plays DEA agent Rick Bowden, an old-school operator sent undercover to bring the site down. Neither man is exactly clean. The film frames their collision not as good cop versus bad criminal but as two different ideas about power and freedom grinding against each other — which is what makes it more interesting than a standard takedown story.
Russell shoots it with the stripped-down energy of documentary crime journalism, and that restraint fits the material. The actual Silk Road case was one of the stranger prosecutions of the decade, and the film does not try to smooth out the weirdness. Stream Silk Road (2021) online on iFILM.
