Synopsis
60 Minutes (1968) is CBS's flagship television newsmagazine — watch it online on iFILM. Running continuously since 1968, it has outlasted most of what came and went on American television and remains one of the most-watched programmes in the country.
Each episode is built from two or three documentary segments: investigative pieces, long-form political interviews, culture profiles. The correspondent roster reads like a roll call of broadcast journalism — Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Dan Rather, and Ed Bradley in earlier decades; Scott Pelley, Anderson Cooper, Lesley Stahl, and Sharyn Alfonsi in recent seasons. Presidents from Nixon to Biden have sat across the table; so have corporate executives, whistleblowers, and entertainers.
More Emmy Awards than any other news programme in television history. The show has broken stories that moved policy, sparked congressional hearings, and occasionally ended careers — including a famously contested tobacco-industry investigation that CBS initially refused to air.
